Tips

• Guide the blade as it retracts: do not let it snap back, because the impact of the hook wears it and can throw the tip out of calibration.
• Engage the lock before reading or marking so the blade does not move.
• Keep the blade clean and dry; if it gets wet, dry it before retracting it to prevent rust.
• Do not bend the blade at a sharp angle or step on it: it gets creased and loses stiffness.
• Watch the edges of the blade when retracting it: they are metal and can cut.
